Location and basic amenities
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is on the Epcot Area at 900 Cayman Way, Lake Buena Vista, FL. It started operations on October 1, 1998, and has is made up of multi-class two-storey apartment buildings that encircle a 45-acre lake called the "Barefoot Bay". The shore of the bay features lounging and beach activities, including various water sports. In the middle of the bay is Parrot Cay Island, home to a colorful array of tropical birds.
The apartment buildings are grouped into six different villages, each with its own unique style and named after Caribbean Islands: Jamaica, Barbados, Aruba, Martinique, Trinidad North, and Trinidad South. Each of the village has a swimming pool, while some also have their own playground. Resort facilities are centered in the Old Port Royale building, which has all the restaurants, a food court, and a gift shop.
While the Caribbean Beach resort is far from being a "discount" resort, you can still get huge discount if you stay in the standard view instead of the water view room (which has a view of either the pool or the beach). Each room in the resort has a maximum capacity of 4 persons, plus a child in a crib.
Some of the extra amenities and services offered in the resort include an internal bus service for transporting around the resort, a "Custom House" building (for Check-in, Bell Services, and Guest Services), babysitting and childcare services, valet service cleaning, coin laundry facilities, express check-out, refillable mugs, refrigerator, coffeemaker, hairdryer, High Speed Internet Access, Calypso Trading Post & Calypso Straw Market for souvenirs and gifts, ATM machine, poolside bar, and mini-bars.
You have various dining and food options at the Old Port Royale.
A great Caribbean treat is Bluerunner Pizza which offers room service from 5pm to 10pm. You can order 16" pizzas, beer, soft drinks, wine, and chicken in a bucket among other food items.
The Old Port Royale Food Court has six counter-service restaurants that offer baked goods, chicken, pizza, hamburgers, deli sandwiches, salads, pasta, ice cream, fresh fruits, desserts, and breakfast items. They are open from 6am until midnight.
For a sit-down dinner, a favorite is Shutters restaurant which is open from 5pm to 10pm. They serve prime rib, seafood, and chicken. They also offer room service, but orders are limited to chicken, pizza, and bake goods. Room service can only be availed from 4pm until midnight.
